| Welcome
To Sheffield Environment Weeks 2008 |
| Spring is here at last and so are Sheffield Environment Weeks. I hope that you will find many activities to enjoy during the merry month of May from the wonderful array of events outlined in this booklet. It is testimony to the dedication and commitment from all involved in Sheffield Environment Weeks that once again we have an action packed month in which to explore and celebrate our green heritage. It is through the hard work of numerous individuals, voluntary and community groups and other organisations that Sheffield can be proud of its reputation as the Green City.

Sheffield has an unrivalled network of parks, woodlands and green spaces, and we have access to some of the most beautiful countryside in the world on our doorstep. It is not surprising then to find so many people who care passionately about the environment and who unselfishly give up their time to protect and improve this fantastic resource. I hope that you take advantage of the events in this booklet to get out and about and that you are inspired to do so more often.
This year sees the introduction of Green City Days in Hillsborough Park on 25th and 26th May and this will provide Sheffield with a major environmental event with loads of fun activities and entertainment. Watch the press for details.
So the booklet is produced, the events organised and everybody is ready so let's hope for some reasonable weather and let's enjoy our events. As a Sheffielder born and bred it makes me feel very proud to have played my small part in making this happen and I thank all those involved from the bottom of my heart, and that means you too.

All the best
